Case study · Concerts · Mobile app

3,963 concert venues, updated every week, in an iPhone and Android app.

CrowdMate answers two questions: “what is playing?” and “who is coming with me?”. We co-founded the product with Laurence Mertens, then built the apps, the listings collection and the pipeline that publishes the city guides.

The problem

A concert calendar is only worth something if it is complete and current. Yet every venue publishes its listings its own way: in-house site, ticketing, embedded calendar. No central file exists, and a catalog that goes stale loses its users’ trust within a week.

Second difficulty: finding a concert is not enough to go. People hesitate without company, and the information gets lost in conversations. Discovering a date and deciding to go together had to be connected.

Nicolas Mathieu designs, builds and runs the product: iPhone and Android apps, venue collection and city guides. Laurence Mertens, co-founder, leads the venue research. CrowdMate is published by ClairAI SASU.

What we built

  1. A catalog of 3,963 venues

Each venue is declared in the registry with its address and its reading method, custom-built or through a ticketing platform. The registry covers 189 cities in 10 countries: United States, Germany, Spain, United Kingdom, Australia, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Canada and Denmark.

  2. A refresh every week

Each country has its own scheduled job, run on the 3rd, 8th, 13th, 18th, 23rd and 28th of every month: at least once a week. A collection report follows each cycle, and an empty extraction is treated as a failure, never as a closed venue.

  3. A city guide pipeline

Each active city can receive up to five guides a week, covering concerts from Thursday to Sunday. A guide is published only if it relies on at least two sources and on a concert that is present in the catalog. 235 guides are already online, across 9 markets including Paris, London, New York and Berlin.

  4. Two native apps

The iPhone app and the Android app share the same catalog. You discover a city’s concerts, see who is going, and create a group for a date, with a conversation and a meeting plan. Published guides also feed a stream inside the app.

The result

CrowdMate is published on the App Store and on Google Play. Behind it, a catalog of 3,963 venues in 189 cities refreshes at least once a week, and an automated editorial pipeline, with checks before publication, produces the city guides.

A concert app, its data and its editorial content, built and run by the same team: this is the kind of whole we deliver.

Figures come from the collection registry (3,963 venues, 189 cities, 10 countries), the schedule of planned jobs and the file of published guides, read on 3 October 2026. The venue count is the registry’s, not a user count.
